Description
Eugene Aram by Lord Lytton
One of Lytton’s sympathetic studies of the criminal – in this case a murderer executed in 1759. Eugene Aram was a lexicographer & academic who was eventually found guilty of the murder of a friend over property. Lytton used the case as the basis for a story of a romantic figure torn between violence and visionary ideals.
