Description
Two Years Before The Mast by Richard Henry Dana Jr.
This is the story of the authors trip in the brig & Pilgrim out of Boston in 1834 round Cape Horn up to the west coast of California; of some sixteen months spent up and down this coast in the skin trade, and of his return home, again round the Cape Horn in 1836. This was a ship dominated by the brutal and choleric Captain Thompson who imposed his discipline by bad language.
