The Manner of Loving and Dying of the Cornet Christoph Rilke. Translated By Constantine Fitz Gibbon. The Cornet; in 1899 Rilke was twenty-three years old and had already published several volumes of poems. On one stormy evening he wrote The Cornet. In later years this was the only one of his early works that the greatest, perhaps the sole, poet of Existentalism could tolerate.
