Description
A Many-Splendoured Thing by Han Suyin
Han Suyin has written a very complicated book. It is also a beautiful one. With some minor exceptions she tells her story in the first person & there is no pretence that her heroine, a young Eurasian doctor in Hong Kong, is not herself. The narrator of this novel, like the author, is a Eurasian woman with a Western medical training and Chinese instincts and sympathies. In the cosmopolitan surroundings of Hong Kong she meets and falls in love with the correspondent of a British newspaper.
