Last Poems by A.E. Housman
Alfred Edward Housman (1859 – 1936), an English poet and classical scholar, remains best known for his collection of 63 simple, nostalgic poems collectively titled ‘A Shropshire Lad’, he held the prestigious position of Kennedy Professor of Latin at Cambridge University from 1911 and lived in Cambridge for the rest of his life. He wrote poetry throughout his life, proclaiming that poetry should appeal to emotions perhaps in contrast to his intellectual passion for classical studies.
