Description
Colditz: The Full Story by Major P R Reid
The very name Colditz is synonymous with incarceration. But the notoriety of this prisoner-of-war camp is ironically due to its record number of successful escapees. Colditz: The Full Story is written with typical British understatement, detailing the inmates’ ingenuity and bravery, and the workings of the escape committee’. Examples include a 45-year old officer disguised as a ‘bronze-haired Rhine maiden’, and dummies used during roll calls.
With a frontispiece and pages of colour and black & white plates and integrated documents, featuring two redrawn maps of the castle, watercolours by POW Major William Anderson and photographs of daily life.
