Hours in A Library by Leslie Stephen (3 vols, Folio Society 1991) just arrived in pristine condition. Obviously volumes had never been out of the slipcase since printing. In fact it took twenty minutes to extract the volumes without damage they were so tightly packed. I am incredibly well pleased!

I felt compelled to sing the praises of HC Books online. I ordered a pretty difficult to obtain book of EM Forster’s A Room with a View (Guild) to replace one I gave away as a gift decades ago. After searching extensively, to no avail, I found it here, and for an inexpensive price. I also bought 3 other volumes of HG Wells, Rilke and Poe. They arrived the very next day, superbly packaged, and in pristine condition.

First time using hcbooks online for a copy of a book I struggled to find elsewhere. Such a lovely binded copy rather than the usual paperbacks from Amazon, my mother in law is going to love it. Superfast postage too and worth the extra carriage charge to be delivered by decent courier.

I purchased many Heron books bound by Hazell Watson and Viney Ltd. in the 70’s to read later.
I have just got around to reading two of them, Madam Bovary and Notre Dame. Both these books have cracked at the spine where the outside plastic joins the book cover. Although they have only been read once and very carefully, it does seem a shame that although the paper in wood-free the plastic covers are such a terrible quality and do not last one reading. Perhaps the plastic suffers from age hardening.
Yes, sadly this can happen to some books from this publisher. I have mentioned this in the Heron Books listings in my blog as it is something to look out for when purchasing pre-owned Heron Books.

I had this book as a child and loved the stories and the illustrations. I have been looking for a copy for years but I couldn’t remember the author or of course the publisher. I have visited every book shop wherever I have visited. Tried to track it down on line, but until I saw yours, I had almost given up. Of course now I know the illustrator and publisher there are quite a few on line references to it
I am so happy to turn the pages again and remember the magic and escapism that this book brought to a pretty impoverished child just after the last war. We didn’t have many toys so books and the Somerset countryside were my world.

i just purchased the 12 volume set of books written by winston churchill during his time as prime minister in the war. this volume came exceptionally well packaged so there was no way they could be damaged. the seller was completely honest about the condition of the books which do display some VERY SMALL signs of wear and tear which is expected. a lovely volume which i will definitely enjoy reading and i definitely recommend them :D

And so…I have just ordered 2 more books from HC BOOKS!They were waiting for me when I came back from a rambling holiday in Brittany: I waited till last night to open the carefully wrapped parcel as I wanted to get rid of the coming-back-from-a holiday-chores first and be fully settled to enjoy the first glance in front of a log fire!
N°1 is a very good edition of Robinson Crusoe that was published in 1841: although the pattern on the cover is a bit faded and the binding had to be strengthened, the book is in good condition and the illustrations after Grandville are just great!
N°2 is a late 19th century copy of the Vicar of Wakefield: It is in very good condition and the leafy pattern on the cover is beautiful!
I look forward to reading these two beautifully illustrated books once I have finished reading my current paperback (Toast by Nigel Slate).

I received my book, ‘Westward Ho Charles Kingsley George Harrap 1927’ as promised by next day collection. The book was JUST as it was described, if not better.
